I have about 10 of these books and they are usually excellent, with a good coverage of sights to see, places to go, shops etc. Maybe this city changes a lot more than most, but a lot of the recommended places have closed, or the crowd has moved on.

Also, the map is almost useless.

They have missed a lot of good restaurants that I would thought they should have covered.

Would suggest buying a more complete guide from others.

A Good Alternative Pricing Guide

This is a great book! I'm not sure that the pricing is accurate, but the illustrations are larger than my Scott catalogs. I purchased this primarily for US stamps, which by far is in the majority for this catalog's content. The large format and illustrations are nearly coffee table book quality. The cost is reasonable for a book like this. I'm glad I purchased it.

Simplified Version With Lift The Flap Appeal

This retelling simplifies the classic story for the youngest readers (being read to). The princess is effectively portrayed as unlikable due to her negative behaviors. The transformation from playing with the frog because her parents made her, to playing the frog because she enjoys it was a little thin, but my children didn't question it. The characters are young children, so the story skips the traditional getting married ending.

My children love lifting the flaps in this book.

Short But Very Profound Book

Kenneth Hagin was not only one of the most important prophets and teachers of Christianity in the 20th century but one of the most important teachers in the 2,000 year history of the church. Almost every major preacher/teacher of the late 20th century read Hagin, learned from him and incorporated his (scriptural) views into their teachings.
He was absolutely brilliant. No doubt tomes and tomes have been written on this theme but Hagin outdoes them all in a mini-book you can read in five minutes. Just because it's short doesn't mean it isn't profound, It is and full of truths from the Word of God.
If you are a Christian, get this book. You will never regret it.

Growing up I always heard people praying about the blood of Jesus but never understood it until I purchased this book. I was blown away! This little book summed up for me what I needed to know about the authority of claiming the blood. After reading this I purchased three other books by Haggin that"s just as good.

Excellent undergraduate text on quantum chemistry

I purchased a softcover copy of this book after seeing preview sections of it online on Google books. An excellent introductory textbook with well thought-out questions that follow each chapter. Easy to understand, and derivation of most equations are nicely executed within the text. I would rank this book equivalent to the classic text on quantum chemistry by Don McQuarrie. If you need something more basic, go for the classic text by A.R. Denaro (A Foundation for Quantum Chemistry); out-of-print, but still available in used bookstores, or online stores. If you need a primer in calculus, then a good place to start is "Teach Yourself Calculus" by Abbott.

With over 25 pictures, this section will also introduce you to all the important parts of your knee. Did you know knee cartilage doesn't have any nerves and cannot cause knee pain?

Chapter 2 is"What's Likely To Happen To Your Knee Over the Long Run?". Here you will learn what happens to arthritic knees that don't end up having surgery. This chapter reviews the natural history studies that follow arthritis patients for many years to see what happens to them. Is knee arthritis a one-way ticket downhill? Chapter 6 is "Tune-Up #4: How to Improve Knee Endurance". If the book ended at Chapter 5, you'd have exercises that would make your knee much stronger, more flexible, and highly responsive. While this would be good, it still leaves out one last function an arthritic knee absolutely has to have: endurance. Without endurance, your poor knee wouldn't let you do simple things like walk for very long at all. In this section, I show you five ways to improve your knee endurance - and you only need to pick the one that works best or you.

At 105 pages, I wrote this book so the reader could finish it in a few hours, and have all the tools they need to improve the function of their arthritic knees and dramatically decrease their pain levels. Additionally, I have also written it in a little larger print, so those with vision problems will have an easy time reading it. Not only will these exercises help the person who has knee arthritis, but they are also great exercises to keep anybody's knees in good working order.

Valuable information for Baby Boomers

I read this book with some degree of skepticism. After knee surgery in 2008, physical therapy, and three years of knee pain, I was told I needed a partial knee replacement. I was not ready to have my knee disassembled just yet, so I was taking lots of ibuprofen and naproxen. Nothing seemed to help (OK, maybe Jim Beam!)

So I saw this book on Amazon and thought "What could it hurt?" Thirty bucks is nothing for medical care these days. It is well written, easy to understand, and logical. It could be summarized by "Your quads are weak." Could it be that simple? The author cites study after study that supports his conclusion, not to mention his own clinical experiences.

I have tried the exercises for about three weeks now, and guess what? The knee pain is SUBSTANTIALLY reduced! I can get out of chairs and cars better, and my bowling scores have improved! My quads are weak. Who knew? By flexing the quads, the knee anatomy is pulled back up where it belongs. No more popping and snapping.

So I recommend it. If nothing else, it should save Medicare billions of dollars! It should be a covered expense, and mandatory reading for anyone considering a knee replacement.

Great help for arthritic knees!

This book is exactly what I was searching for after I underwent my 3rd knee surgery at age 46. I've had knee arthritis since high school, but I've stayed very active regardless. Even though I've been on an excellent workout schedule, 3 times a week minimum, doing weights and kickboxing, for almost 7 years now, my knees are still deteriorating. This book explains in plain English the "why" behind it, and gives an excellent overview of each layer of your knee and it's components, and well as how arthritis affects this specific region. The author cites numerous studies and has done the hard work of researching what kinds of therapy does or does not help knees in this condition. He lays out an extremely easy to follow 6 week plan to strengthen the muscles in areas that have been shown to lead to the most improvement, and all these exercises can be done at home if you have no access to a gym. This book is simple, to the point, and contains all the necessary information you need to know, in addition to the "why's" you might wish to know, and lays out a program that is simple to follow. Highly recommended read for all those with arthritic knee conditions looking for some relief!

Outstanding

I purchased "Treat Your Own Knees" four years ago on vacation. Some days I used crutches because the pain was so bad and I had been told I would need surgery and eventually knee replacements. I started the exercises the night I purchased the book and have been faithful to them ever since. I am now 58 years old and 90% pain free. I participate in crew and curling. I can run stairs. I don't limp or waddle when I walk. My flexibility and strength has dramatically improved and it is better than most people half my age. I rarely take anything for pain. This is simply the best book on the market for knees. Because I was able to increase my activity I was able to lose about 65 pounds. This book gave me my life back. I used the first edition that cost about $10. Thank you. Thank you.

She has published widely in leading journals and has served on the program committees for many international conferences, including chairing the program committee for the 1997 ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing.

JENNIFER WELCH received her PhD in Computer Science from MIT in 1988. She is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Texas A&M University. She has published numerous technical papers on the theory of distributed computing and has served on the program committees for several international conferences on the subject, including chairing the program committees for the 1999 ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing and the 2001 International Symposium on Distributed Computing. She has also received several teaching awards.

well-written, in-depth overview of distributed computing

I used this book for teaching an under-graduate primer course in distributed computing. The book is readable, coherent, well-structured and very efficient as a textbook. It strikes a good balance between the sea of details and the basic principles. I am familiar with the core of this book since it was a collection of lecture notes (alas, no longer available). It's a pity that some important topics have been omitted from the book version (e.g., Gallager, Humblett, Spira alg). There are some minor errors and imperfections in pseudocodes and exercise definitions which are a little bit annoying. That's why I'm giving this book four points and not five. Bottom line: I would recommend this book as a course textbook.

Terse prose fraught with errors and omissions

I've struggled to read this text, since it contains many very recent results distilled into intelligently organized chapters. Unfortunately, even though this book is intended for a savvy audience, the text is often too detailed and technical, while important "big picture" intuition is never relayed. Frequent errors in the algorithms and proofs, ranging from simple subscript swaps to more subtle errors in logic to the (rarer) complete lack of logic make this a difficult book to recommend. In addition, the exercises are frequently too vague (sometimes meaningless) -- this book is definitely not recommended for class work.

A good book

This is a good book in the field of distributed computing, but it is very mathematically oriented. It concentrates on impossibility proofs and lower bound proofs. I advise people new to this material to read a more descriptive book before reading this one
