About the Author
Mark Pennington is an educational author, presenter, reading specialist, and middle school teacher. He encourages teachers to work smarter, not harder to improve their craft and increase student learning. Mark is committed to standards-based staff development in differentiated instruction for the diverse needs of today's students. Mark has twenty seven years of teaching experience in the elementary (six years), middle school (ten years), high school (eight years), and community college (three years part-time) settings. His MA Education (Reading Specialist) is out of the California State University at Sacramento. Mark received his teaching credential at the University of California at Los Angeles after graduating Magna cum Laude from the University of Southern California. Go Trojans! Mark currently serves as an English Language-Arts and Reading Intervention Middle School Teacher in the Elk Grove Unified School District in Elk Grove, California. Mark presents at educational conferences and provides staff in-services in the areas of spelling/vocabulary, reading, grammar/mechanics, and essay writing. Great strategies, not enough time

Although the manual is quite in depth and has great strategies, it will take some sort of training to attend for me to fully implement it correctly. The activities look great but it's way too much work for a teacher who just doesn't have the time.

First-Time Author Shows Great Promise

The uncertainty of knowing of Maryam and Dr Joe were the characters involved in the prologue that kept me on edge throughout the book. Raj has drawn on his own experiences and observations to deliver a novel that provides insight to life for women particularly but also for men in Saudi Arabia. I puzzled over some of the sub-plots as they didn't seem to lead anywhere, nor to contribute to the main story. Perhaps Raj is leaving the way open for a further book in which these plots will be explored. Having said this, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it.

A Fast Read

I am torn on this book because I thought the story was very interesting and I liked the subject matter. I am very interested in Saudi Arabia and study Arabic so I really wanted to read this! There are actually very few novels set in Saudi Arabia. I really liked the idea of the story but it seemed to jump around way too and some scenes could be cut out. I was looking forward to the romance aspect but it didn't really feel like a romance. The love between Joe and Maryam didn't seem very developed and they are in very few scenes together! There are so scenes that are very clichéd and I felt the characters weren't very developed. Some of the dialogue was very weird, for example the main male character says “hell’s bells”. I also wished Saudi Arabia was described better. However, I would read another book by the author because his writing style did keep me interested. I was just expecting more.

A family drama and romance in modern Saudi Arabia. Although set in contemporary Saudi Arabia these restrictions are placed on many women in the Muslim world; the lack of freedom of choice, even amongst the educated. This family drama is mostly about the daughter who does not wish to marry the man chosen by her parents, although in the beginning she accepts her fate but she then meets and goes on to have an affair with an American. However, her father too is having an affair with his American daughter-in-law so this highlights the hypocrisy in the Muslim society.

About the Author

Megan Poore is the PhD Academic and Research Skills Advisor at the ANU’s Crawford School of Public Policy. She is known for her best practice approaches to integrating digital technologies into both university and school settings, and this includes developing strong digital pedagogies as well as sound approaches to risk management. She has also held the position of Assistant Professor in Teacher Education at the University of Canberra, and has worked as an educational designer at the Australian Catholic University, giving her a unique understanding of the issues that confront students and teachers in the integration of digital technologies into their everyday study and work practices. Megan holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the Australian National University.

I have never been a good writer in or out of school, since reading this book writing for Academic Success publish by Gail Creswell, and Megan Poore. I hope to create a measure of success as well as my work to help others success. This book speaks for itself, and what writing for academic do? Writing impacts our lives as well as our work. The measures may be quantifiable or qualitative, but they are observable in some way. For example, it reflects the purpose, mission, and hopes of changed to continue whether in school or out within each situation.

Very disappointing. A good effort by several masters that should have been edited by someone. There is no consistency on terminology. Images are fair to useless. Someone needs to write a good step-by-step book with clear photos on Professional Stone Setting. Hmm...

Good book for the beginner

Good book to teach you the basic concepts of foosball, but you will not walk away from reading this book being an A+ player. It gives basic advice on shooting, but did teach me the roll-over shot. Defensive advice is not very in-depth, no specific advice on stopping specific shots. However, being the only foosball book out there, it ain't bad.

Wow! I was amazed to find this book on foosball. It has great sections on passing, shooting, and defense, and the stuff at the end is pretty funny. I would recommend this book for beginners and experienced players who just want a book on foosball.

I'd already been playing foos a while by the time I read this book so there really wasn't anything I read that was new. However, I was pleased at how much the book does cover. For anyone looking to get into foosball and take it more seriously than just rod spinning, I would definitely recommend at least going through it once. Contrary to what most people think, foosball does require at least a basic level of skill to really enjoy.
